Why This Site Exists
The small modular reactor industry is growing rapidly — new projects, shifting cost estimates, and a supply chain still being built in real time. Most of what is currently published about the business of SMRs falls into two camps: vendor marketing that oversells the technology, or dense regulatory filings that only an insider can parse.
SMR Facility exists to close that gap — independent, sourced, and updated as the industry actually changes, not written once and left stale.

Who’s Behind This
This site is built and maintained by Tim Bonner, a procurement and vendor sourcing professional with direct experience in B2B supply chain management operations.
Tim’s background shapes how this site is written. The vendor and supplier guide isn’t theoretical — it comes from years of evaluating suppliers, navigating qualification processes, and understanding what buyers actually look for before they’ll do business with you. The same scrutiny applied to sourcing telecom and industrial components is applied here to SMR siting, cost, and supply chain data.
It is also worth mentioning that Tim hates this section, but includes it because he is a Web Developer and SEO professional who understands Google’s E-E-A-T requirements.

What This Site Covers
- Siting requirements — NRC licensing pathways and site selection criteria
- Cost data — real construction costs, sourced from public filings and cost disclosures, not vendor projections
- Project tracking — current status of every major SMR project in development
- Vendor and supplier guidance — how to qualify as a supplier, based on real procurement experience
Sourcing Standards
Every claim on this site traces back to a verifiable source: NRC filings, SEC disclosures, DOE program data, company press releases, and industry trade publications including the American Nuclear Society and World Nuclear News. Where cost or timeline estimates come from a vendor, that’s stated explicitly — vendor claims and independently verified figures are never presented as the same thing.
Pages are reviewed and updated as new information becomes available, particularly the project tracker, which changes as licensing and construction milestones hit.
